The Last Days of Steam in Berkshire

Regular price £5.00 Unit price per

The lower Thames valley through Maidenhead to Reading owes much of its development to the railway, Brunel's original Great Western following the line of the Thames as far as Reading en-route between London and Bristol. Reading in particular developed quickly as a result of the railway, whilst new lines soon extended both south and west to be followed by a number of cross country connections and branches.

The area was a favourite with many photographers and as the last years of the steam age in Berkshire probably saw the greatest variety of both engines and trains, they had an incalculable variety of material to choose from. Kevin Robertson has drawn together some of the best of the available material to produce a study which should be of great interest to the steam enthusiast.
