Regular price £10.00 Unit price per

This is the final part of a trilogy that takes the reader on A Nostalgic Tour of Wolverhampton by Tram, Trolleybus and Bus, and again uses the history of the city's public transport system as the basis for our journey, this time around the eastern routes. Wolverhampton Corporation originally operated the unique electric Lorain surface contact system trams, later replaced by overhead power. Then the trolleybuses briefly gave Wolverhampton the title of 'the largest trolleybus system in the world', dominating the important radial routes to Bilston, Darlaston, Willenhall and Walsall until the 1960s, while the motorbuses gradually changed from being operated on back-road services to finally replace all the trolleybuses by 1967. The more than 250 photographs show the social, geographic and cultural changes in the town.
