The Stratford-upon-Avon & Midland Junction Railway

Regular price £4.00 Unit price per

The S.M.J. Railway operated some of the most unprofitable lines in England—from Blisworth to Banbury and Stratford-on-Avon—with a remarkable collection of locomotives and rolling stock. Trains were infrequent, and passengers were few; and, as Mr. Dunn writes: " Its history, in places as elusive as the line itself, is a curious example of the survival of the unfit." This is the first full-length account of the S.M.J. to be published, and it brings the story of its lines down to 1952. It is based on much original research, and the railway's strange collection of locomotives is fully described.
