The Taff Vale Railway (OL 2)

Regular price £7.00 Unit price per

The Taff Vale is assured of a secure place in the history of British railways. It was the first railway of any size in the Principality of Wales, and it developed through long and fierce Parliamentary struggles and litigation to be unquestionably the premier South Wales line. It attained unequalled heights of prosperity as the coal industry rose to greatness during the nineteenth century, and it always had a strongly individual character until it was included in the Great Western group in the amalgamation of 1922. Mr. Barrie's account of the Taff Vale, originally published in 1939, has been enlarged and extensively rewritten for this edition; a new map has been drawn, and four new photographs have been added. This is a spirited and faithful portrait of the old " Taff ".
