The Great Western in the West Midlands

Regular price £6.00 Unit price per

The Great Western in the West Midlands fed its lines out from Birmingham (Snow Hill) station with the industrial areas around crossing over and under LMS routes going north and south.

GWR 'Kings' passed through to Wolverhampton where they were taken off their trains to be replaced by 'Castles' and 'Halls' for the journey on to Shrewsbury. GWR trains arrived from Worcester and Here- ford, and from Stratford-upon-Avon and Leamington.

Sadly, Birmingham (Snow Hill) closed in 1972 and this once fine station is now merely a car-park.

In this album, Patrick White- house, an author well known in railway circles, has put together an excellent selection of photographs of the area and has supplemented these with informative captions and detailed maps.

Hardback with dust jacket, unpaginated, 218 numbered black & white photographs
