The British Steam Railway Locomotive 1925-1965

Regular price £7.00 Unit price per

At the time of the Railway Centenary in 1925 the eminent locomotive historian E. L. Ahrons was commissioned to write a special series of articles in The Engineer. This series, subsequently reproduced in book form, at once established itself as a classic of railway literature.

Forty years later, as steam traction was in the throes of disappearing from Great Britain, O. S. Nock completed the work Ahrons' first volume had started, detailing the history of the steam locomotive over the 1925-65 period. Like Ahrons, Nock is a professional engineer and has had a wide experience of locomotive working both in Great Britain and abroad.

As might be expected, the second volume was as successful as the first and covered fully the wide range of designs that appeared during the 40 years - also detailing the locomotive trials and general advances in performance standards.

This latest printing has once again brought this classic volume on to the market where its magnificent collection of illustrations - photo- graphs and line drawings - are sure to be appreciated.
