A History of the Stratford-upon-Avon & Midland Junction Railway

Regular price £12.00 Unit price per

The Stratford-upon-Avon & Midland Junction Railway, the `SMJ', has always had a special fascination for anyone interested in our railway heritage. A small proud independent Company in the centre of England, it often struggled to remain solvent, but it was equally resourceful. Its head offices were at Stratford and its trains ran back and forth to Blisworth, Banbury, Towcester, Woodford Halse and Olney. They passed through some of the loveliest countryside calling at and close by many of the strongly identifiable dark brown ironstone villages.

This volume is a journey through time and place using over two hundred photographs, maps, diagrams and text. It will restore to the unaware the purpose of a few crumbling bridges and overgrown cuttings down some remote country road and will, hopefully, be a sustaining record to ensure all is not quite forgotten.

Softback, 160 pages, black & white photographs, drawings, maps, track plans
