In 1979 the London bus has been celebrating 150 years of service to the capital, a period that has seen enormous change in all walks of life, not the least to the bus. In 1829 George Shillibeer inaugurated his 13-seat single-deck horse-bus from The Yorkshire Stingo, Marylebone to The Bank. From those horse- drawn beginnings, the London bus network has reached its maturity as an extensive road passenger transport system that, despite its change in circumstances and size, still carries efficiently many thousands of passengers each day. This fascinating history of development and change is well covered in this new edition of London Bus and Tram Album.

The book is divided in to six sections which deal with, respectively, double-deckers, single-deckers, tramcars, trolleybuses, service vehicles and, finally, a section entitled 'Afterlife' which contains views of former LT vehicles continuing in service elsewhere in the world. London Bus and Tram Album is informative, authoritative and profusely illustrated providing much to delight any follower of London's buses both past and present.
