Branch Line to Fairford
Starting as a local branch to Witney and being extended as part of a proposed main line, the line settled down to serving the community in the quiet and efficient way that so many rural GWR routes did for several generations. The route developed a particular importance in World War II, but was always important to local agriculture and industry. These features are fully illustrated and numerous maps help to tell the story of this much loved branch.
