The new management transferred 21 of the Adams '02' tanks from the mainland and these little engines, together with coaching stock from the constituent pre-Grouping companies, operated the train services for over 40 years until the cessation of steam working at the end of 1966. Thus there grew up on the Island a sense of timelessness and stability which Nationalisation in 1948 did little to destroy and much of the atmosphere of the Isle of Wight railways has been captured in this fine selection of photographs.

Hardback with dust jacket, 96 pages, black & white photographs

Condition: Good/Very Good

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1910/7111/products/9780851532288_3c1445ec-a0c3-4d64-80f0-95f4c45f9d86.jpg?v=1664384047
